Who's ready for a spicy space-romp? ;)

Bridal Pact was so much fun.. and so HOT! I am really invested in these characters, and have plowed through the rest of the stories in record time. I loved how fun and real the characters were, and the.. errr... intimate scenes.. WOW. I'm in love, and I'm eagerly awaiting more!

I initially got the free sample of this book and when I started reading it, I got totally caught up. So much so that I resented having to put it off for weekly shopping. When I got back to it I devoured it. I enjoyed it so much I pondered whether to spend the money when I was low on funds with half a week left to payday. Less than 24 hours later I had bought the book anyway. It was worth every penny.

I love the major characters. They have well-developed personalities and they are, while not flawless puppets, still entirely likable. The world building is very good and makes sense. The editing is good. The story plays out in a logical manner that managed to have a few surprises for me.

For any self-published writers out there who may be reading this, let me point out the things that make this book a winner:
*Good grammar that has obviously been well edited.
*A complete story which hasn't been chopped into a bunch of little cliff-hanger segments, each sold as a "story". Look! It's a real book with a beginning, middle, and end, and it is more than 100 pages. This is called "value for the money", and provides reader satisfaction with a happy, soon-to-be repeat customer.
*There are no major plot holes and no weird logic flaws.
*The characters are likable. Each has a separate personality. They aren't cookie-cutter mock-ups.
*The story isn't driven by over-the-top fake drama or ridiculous amounts of angst.
*The major characters are adults and they act like it. There are none of those stupid "I'm not going to talk to my S.O. about this issue because mentally I'm 5 years old and don't bother to talk about problems. I just throw temper tantrums, wait for issues to magically disappear, or use the silent treatment." No, the hero and heroine actually discuss problems and work them out... you know... because they are adults.
*There are no weird conversations. Dialogue is natural and fits with the situations characters find themselves in.
*There is a satisfying HEA.
*The major story arc is resolved. The author is relying on her excellent story crafting talent to get readers to buy subsequent stories.
I could go on, but this is more than enough.

All-in-all, there is nothing I don't like about this story and I am eagerly waiting for the short story coming at the end of this month in a four author anthology. I have it pre-ordered. I'll happily buy anything this author chooses to publish. Thanks for the entertainment!

A captivating read from beginning to end!

I haven't read much Sci-fi, let alone a Sci-fi romance. But, I do love a good romance novel! Whether or not you are a fan of Sci-fi, you will love this romance! It hooked me from beginning to end! I highly recommend this book because it is well written, has a very interesting storyline with intriguing characters!

Great resource

Let me preface this review by saying that this course is complicated and difficult. I believe many of the other reviews come out of frustration of the course and not the book.

The book is a good resource and has many great aspects about it. There are a few downfalls and those are common with the other reviews, which is the errors that are throughout the book. Professor Faroughi will provide a list of errors and corrections upon request. This will take care of 99% of the confusion. When looking at other books that are similar in subject matter, this one has shined in great relatable examples. Towards the end of chapters there are great verilog code examples as well as critical thinking questions about the subject matter for that given section. If you put in the time to learn the subject, this is a great resource and will aid you in understanding logical circuit design.

BUY THE HARD COPY

*At the time of this review, problems with the kindle version still exist*
I was satisfied with the contents of the book, thus I gave the review 5 stars. All of my issues are with the kindle version of the book, which I would give one star.

After my second year of college and collecting a bunch (now) useless books, I decided to start buying all my books on Kindle so I wouldn't have to deal storing them for any future purpose. I have purchased many kindle versions of text books to use on my Galaxy tablet and I have always been satisfied until this book.

For some reason, this book isn't formatted like a textbook normally is laid out for kindle. Normal text books have the same exact pages as the hard copy, and allow you to flip from page to page, and even zoom in on pages. However, this book is formatted similar to some of the novels I have bought on kindle. Instead of page numbers there are locations, about 10,000 of them, which is relatively meaningless while searching for a specific diagram or concept in the book. When trying to zoom in the read the text, the entire layout of the page changes, making it extremely difficult to refer to diagrams while reading the section that describes it. There are more problems with the Kindle version but I think you get the point by now.

Here is the bottom line: if you are like me and like to buy your books for Kindle save yourself the trouble and buy the hard cover of this one.

About the Author
John Merriman is the Charles Seymour Professor of History at Yale University. A specialist in nineteenth century French history, Merriman earned his Ph. D at the University of Michigan. He is the author of many books, including The Margins of City Life: Explorations on the French Urban Frontier, 1815–1851; Red City: Limoges and the French Nineteenth Century; The Agony of the Republic: The Repression of the Left in Revolutionary France, 1848–1851; and, most recently, The Stones of Balazuc: A French Village in Time (Norton, 2002). He regularly teaches the survey of modern European history at Yale.

Excellent and Informative

Merriman's book - A History of Modern Europe - available here as a single volume or separated into two volumes, provides and excellent and in depth history of modern Europe. The book is broken down in manageable chapters for easy reading and is perhaps one of the most comprehensive account of the period.

More importantly though, Merriman's writing is very accessiblele and easy to read. His detailed accounts of events are comprehensive without being overbearing with unnecessary detail. He manages to take often complex events and presents them in a logical way. He crafts a wonderful and immersing narrative, both factual and emotional, leaving the reader with a good understanding of not just how history played out, but what it was like to be there.

The book is clearly well researched and accurate. It also provides a healthy amount of pictures and maps.

A must for any student of modern history.

This text is not only for the serious European History scholar, it is for anyone/everyone who is interested in how Europe was shaped, and in turn, shaped the Western world.

Dr. Merriman has written, updated, a text that was amazing in the first edition. This third edition is even better.

Great Read. Used in AP European History

We used this book as a reference to review AP European History. Our primary textbook was McKay's 'Western Society' last semester, which was fine, but not as entertaining or memorable as John Merriman's book. I recommend this book to everyone as a textbook or entertaining read.

TO THE STUDENT

This book is written for you, the college student, who has had little or no experience with courses in art history. While you are familiar with how English classes are run, and feel comfortable with the format of science labs, what you will experience in an art history class is entirely new. As the class begins, the lights go down, and slides are projected on screens in pairs. Certainly, you have been to slide lectures before, but in those cases only one slide was projected at a time. And not only is the visual format new, but now your professor is actually talking about the slides. You had always thought that art was meant to be admired in silence. How are you, a student, supposed to put your own words to great works of art? In the upcoming weeks, you will be asked to do just that—to speak about images, to write about them, to remember them, to prioritize information about them—in sum, to engage with them visually in a way that has never been asked from you before. This book is designed to guide you through the process, assisting you with art history papers, exams, and note-taking. It will also help you with two frequently asked questions: "Why take an art history course?" and "What in the world do I do with a major in art history?" Finally, knowing that you are already saddled with tedious reading assignments, I have written the book in a style that is conversational and humorous.

TO THE TEACHER

As teachers, we often forget the profound disorientation that first-time art history students can experience. Yet as I have learned from numerous conversations with my, students, the transition from other courses to art history is not a natural one. It often takes weeks for students to become acclimatized; some, particularly in large lecture classes, never do. "This is my first art history class," I am told after lecture. "I don't know what I am doing." Those who have previously taken a course or two are regarded with awe, as though they are members of some secret society.

This book will accompany the student through the adjustment process. It is intended to be read either straight through, in tandem with, or prior to your lectures, or as a reference text. Its organization reflects what I believe are the standard components of the introductory art history class as taught in colleges and universities in the United States. Hence it focuses on the traditional canon. I admit that African, pre-Columbian, and Native American art are not covered here, nor are newer forms of art, such as video and film.

Each chapter will address a different aspect of the course. Chapter One emphasizes the value of art history as a discipline. Chapter Two is devoted to note-taking and listening in lectures. Chapter Three covers the process of writing response essays. In Chapter Four we deal with taking art history exams, and Chapter Five explores research projects. Although many existing guidebooks define basic terms and concepts used in the discipline, this book also explains how to take art history: how to listen to a lecture, how to discuss images, and how to study. Chapters will include strong (and weak) examples of exam answers and paper extracts. They will also address some of the usual worries of art history students: "How can I possibly write a five-page paper describing one work of art?" The concluding chapter focuses on career options in the field.

Poor book quality

This is more of an issue with the manufacturer, but just a few months after purchasing the book, whole chapters started falling out. Several of my classmates have also had this experience...however, the buying process itself was pretty good, the price was the lowest I could find, and I got the book pretty quickly after ordering.

Only been using the book for two weeks and the first chapter rips out.... definatly looks like more will rip out soon. if you pay alot of money for a book you should ATLEAST get a good month out of it before it rips out pages! Not sure how this is gonna last me 2 years.

I have met the author in person once, because of our Stanford connection. He has since moved on and become CEO of a biotech firm in China, no longer a taxi driver. His observation of the society from the view of a highly educated person is interesting.

Gr 3-6–Krull's clear and lively text describes Kubla Khan's life beginning with his earliest days, when he shot his first rabbit. According to legend, under his grandfather Genghis Khan's guidance, he ate a mixture of its meat and his own blood in a ritual to bring him luck and declare him “worthy of the hunt.” During Kubla's reign, he became the first Emperor of the Yuan dynasty. To keep this vast area in check, he knew he would have to live in China and built a city worthy of an emperor. This lavish capital became Beijing. Krull depicts her subject as a wise, if not beloved, ruler. She includes an adequate bibliography with materials for both adults and young readers, but what she makes clear in her note is the relatively scant availability of primary sources. Much of what we know is derived from the fairly unreliable writings of Marco Polo. The colorful and appealing artwork integrates well with the text–the illustrator has also done significant research. Some portraits of Kubla Khan exist, both Chinese and European, but whether they are accurate is unclear. Byrd relied on the work of Eastern artists to inform his art so that the illustrations themselves echo what one may find in Chinese art and Mongolian design of the period. It’s a tricky task to re-create the life of the famed Mongolian ruler, as reliable information on the man is scanty, but Krull assembles a convincingly grand impression of Kubla Khan and his vast accomplishments. The grandson of the warlord Genghis Khan, Kubla would eventually become the first emperor of China’s Yuan dynasty, and a remarkably enlightened one, stressing knowledge, the arts, and quality of life (though he wasn’t above resorting to some serious savagery during his ascendancy). The grandiosity of his reign is well depicted in Byrd’s Eastern-style artwork, which provides a subtle buttress to the narrative arc, from the earthy tones of Kubla’s nomadic childhood to the regal coloring and intricate designs of his luxurious reign to the husky sunset of his final years. Krull underscores Kubla’s worldwide significance by extrapolating how his meeting with Marco Polo helped spark the European age of exploration. A list of sources—with those best suited for young readers handily denoted—concludes the book, a solid choice for reports that is also scintillating enough for pleasure reading. Well Written Biography-Eccentric Illustrations

World history is filled with Asian emperors who controlled vast realms but very few of them resonate in the West. How much does the average educated American know about Babur or Tamerlane? With the exception of Kubla Khan, I doubt most people could name a single Chinese Emperor. Yet Kubla Khan reaches out through the centuries because of his relationship with Marco Polo. Without the Venetian traveller, he would join the ranks of other obscure Mongolians.

Kathleen Krull is a solid writer and she does a very good job of touching on the highlites of Kubla Khan's long reign. The scope of his Empire and the luxory of his Court stand in wonderful contrast to the European monarchs of the time. In our current century where we are now experiencing the rise of Asia, it is important for children to see that the West was not always the dominate region of the World. My only problem with this book is the eccentric illustration style of Robert Byrd. There is a psychodelic aspect to his illustrations that is not quite fitting in a children's history book. Nevertheless, this is a good book and I would recommend it.

Fascinating introduction to a powerful historical figure.

I enjoy reading books about the past, but most of what I've read in both children's and adult books has focused on the American experience. So I was thrilled to hear about this book. Kubla Khan was a man of contradictions. A just ruler under most conditions, his armies destroyed many villages, massacring any who refused to become part of Khan's growing empire. It was interesting to read about Kubla's mother who was determined to have her children make a mark in the world and did everything in her power to provide them with a chance to do so.

Clearly a man of great intelligence and leadership ability, Khan left a mark that can still be seen in Asia today. One thing I found especially fascinating was how involved in his life, his mother, and second wife were. In a time where women were seen as inferior and incompetent, these women had a big impact on Khan's life, personal and professional. The book is too long for a short read-a-loud, but there is plenty of detail for discussion.

The illustrations are very detailed as well as colorful and bright. The illustrations compliment the text beautifully. I highly recommend this book for those who enjoy reading about the world.

5 big "I desire Corbin even more now!" stars!!!

Why oh why have I even thought Cleo Peitsche would make it a little easier for Corbin and Audrey? There's still one book left in this series, so nothing goes easy. The opposite happens.
And yet we still have no idea what Henry will be doing? Will he really lay low and let it be? Never trusted him and I don't think we have heard the rest of him.

Corbin still has to deal with the revelation that his first wife, Audrey, might not be dead. If that wouldn't be enough, more secrets and speculations occur and keep him busy and away.
But even in these moments, Audrey is his first priority and he knows exactly what she needs and how to help.

For Audrey, all the problems and new revelations keep her on the edge and anxious. So much so, that Corbin's interference and his help have her in another panic attack. Her investigations are still running and working again with her brother make her nostalgic.

I so can't wait to read the final book and see if Corbin and Audrey finally get their happily ever after. And what they have to deal with to get their.

Desired By A Dangerous Man has its funny moments, its teasing and flirting, the hotness and please-more moments, but is also full of suspense and secrets. Cleo Peitsche really has grown as an author.

Felt like a filler book

Let me start off by saying I love the series. My issue is with this book , to me there is almost no development in the story , it felt overall like a filler book to me, not any action to speak of for the protagonist being a bounty hunter/PI. Spoiler alert......
There is nothing new with the situation with his wife only further speculation as to whether now she is a double agent and some mysterious meeting he had in DC that may or may not have to do with her, we don't find out.
The series overall could have done without this book or just could have incorporated the two or three new developments in the next book and just make it a little longer.
I still have high hopes for the next book, we will see

About the Author
After receiving his Ph.D. from Michigan State University, Thomas Noble taught at Albion College, Michigan State University, Texas Tech University, and the University of Virginia. In 1999 he received the University of Virginia's highest award for teaching excellence and in 2008 Notre Dame's Edmund P. Joyce, C.S.C., Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching. In 2011 he received the Charles Sheedy, C.S.C., award for excellence in teaching and scholarship from Notre Dame's College of Arts and Letters. In 2001 he became Robert M. Conway Director of the Medieval Institute at the University of Notre Dame and in 2008 chairperson of Notre Dame's history department. He is the author of Images, Iconoclasm, and the Carolingians, which won the 2011 Otto Gründler Prize, and The Republic of St. Peter: The Birth of the Papal State, 680-825. He has edited six books. He was a member of the Institute for Advanced Study in 1994 and the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in 1999-2000. He has been awarded fellowships by the National Endowment for the Humanities (three times) and the American Philosophical Society (twice). He was elected a Fellow of the Medieval Academy of America in 2004. In 2012 he served as president of the American Catholic Historical Association.

Professor of history and classics at Cornell University, Barry Strauss holds a Ph.D. from Yale. He has been awarded fellowships by the National Endowment for the Humanities, the American Academy in Rome, the American School of Classical Studies at Athens, The MacDowell Colony for the Arts, the Korea Foundation, and the Killam Foundation of Canada. He is the recipient of the Clark Award for excellence in teaching from Cornell. McCann); Rowing Against the Current: On Learning to Scull at Forty; The Battle of Salamis, the Naval Encounter That Saved Greece-and Western Civilization; The Trojan War: A New History; The Spartacus War; and Masters of Command: Alexander, Hannibal, Caesar and the Genius of War. His books have been translated into seven languages. His book The Battle of Salamis was named one of the best books of 2004 by the Washington Post.

A Fellow of the American Academy in Rome with a Ph.D. in History from the University of California at Davis, Duane Osheim is professor of history at the University of Virginia. He has held fellowships from the American Council of Learned Societies, the American Philosophical Society, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Fulbright Program. He is author and editor of A Tuscan Monastery and Its Social World; An Italian Lordship: The Bishopric of Lucca in the Late Middle Ages; Beyond Florence: The Contours of Medieval and Early Modern Italy; and Chronicling History: Chroniclers and Historians in Medieval and Renaissance Italy.

After receiving her Ph.D. from Brown University, Kristen Neuschel taught at Denison University and Duke University, where she is currently associate professor of history and Director of the Thompson Writing Program. She is a specialist in early modern French history and is the author of Word of Honor: Interpreting Noble Culture in Sixteenth-Century France and articles on French social history and European women's history. She has received grants from the Josiah Charles Trent Memorial Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the American Council of Learned Societies. She has also received the Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Teaching Award, which is awarded annually on the basis of student nominations for excellence in teaching at Duke.

Professor of history and gender studies at the University of Southern California, Elinor Accampo completed her Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to her career at USC, she taught at Colorado College and Denison University. She specializes in modern France and is the author of Blessed Motherhood; Bitter Fruit: Nelly Roussel and the Politics of Female Pain in Third Republic France; and Industrialization, Family, and Class Relations: Saint Chamond, 1815-1914. She has coedited (with Christopher Forth) Confronting Modernity in Fin-de-Siècle France and (with Rachel Fuchs and Mary Lynn Stewart) Gender and the Politics of Social Reform in France. She has received fellowships and travel grants from the German Marshall Fund, the Haynes Foundation, the American Council of Learned Societies, and the National Endowment for the Humanities, as well as an award for Innovative Undergraduate Teaching at USC.

Western civilization beyond boundaries sixth edition. Condensed compared to previous editions. Much easier to read so it helped me with an accelerated class to clarify my information making it easier to study. I would recommend definately spending the extra cash on the newer ed. The book i purchased secondhand had highlighting, and it saved me the time to do it myself. It all worked out better than I thought!
