About the Author
Robert L. Mott's 40-year career in sound effects spans commercials, theater, films, cartoons, radio and television. He supplied effects for such radio programs as Mister Chameleon, Gangbusters, Philip Morris Playhouse, Perry Mason and 21st Precinct and the television programs Ed Sullivan, Jackie Gleason, The Web, Playhouse 90, Studio One, Garry Moore, Captain Kangaroo, Bob Hope, The Tonight Show, Flip Wilson and Laugh-In. He was nominated for two Emmy awards for Days of Our Lives. He has also worked as a comedy writer for the Dick Van Dyke, Garry Moore and Red Skelton shows, among others.

Radio Theatre from All Angles

Robert Mott's Audio Theatre Guide provides very useful information on all aspects of creating good radio theatre productions. For newcomers to audio theatre, Mott provides a thorough review of the various aspects that comprise audio theatre including writing, acting, directing, and sound effects. His chapter on creating the most popular Foley sound effects is invaluable to the budding acoustical sound artist. For those interested in "community theatre" performance before audiences big and small, this guide provides most of the tools necessary to carry it out. As the manager of a radio theatre troupe in the Southwest, I have my actors read pertinent parts of this guide for self-improvement. R. Swain
